I think this would serve two purposes: rate limiting and usage segmentation by customer. 
For the 1st, we are already working on a feature so that you can rate-limit by user through our gateway. 
For the 2nd, this is an interesting use case. We can generate a provider-facing ID for each user and add to the requests. Will definitely add to the short term roadmap.
